Our home went on the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) last week, which meant the open houses and tours started this weekend. We had to vacate our home both Saturday and Sunday so our agent could hold open houses on both days. This craziness actually started a few days earlier, since there's what's called a "broker's tour" on Thursday, where real estate agents get to tour properties, and ours was on the broker's tour as well. So lots of last minute clean up around the house and picking up every day.
To get Lauren out of the house and to prevent her from making more of a mess in our home, we arranged a play date with friends of ours who have twin boys at Lauren's favorite park on Saturday. Their boys are only 14 months old, so it wasn't too much fun for Lauren at the park, but she did share her sand toys gracefully, and met up with a friend of hers from her pre-school at the park.
On Sunday, I took Lauren to see, "Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel". She was so excited to see that and even more excited since they had "girl" chipmunks this time around. We had a great outing since Lauren got popcorn, lemonade and a hotdog at the theater, got a toy out of the claw machine, and then a jamba juice after the movie. Afterwards we went to a park she's been wanting to visit for a while, and she did manage to bang her head on the fireman's pole at the park. But after a quick cry she was all better.
The open houses themselves were declared a success as we had approximately 17 groups tour on each day of the open house. Now we just wait and keep our fingers crossed.
