Pumpkin Carving, Easy Bake Ovens, and Playtime

It's been a few weeks since Lauren got to play with her cousins Michaela and Mariah, so she planned out a day of fun for them this past Saturday. We went out to Home Depot and she selected three pumpkins, and bought some 100 watt light bulbs and then came home and called Marie. After they arrived on Saturday, the girls spent most of the time just playing in the backyard on Lauren's swing set. As late afternoon crept up, I suggested it was time to carve pumpkins, and the girls agreed.

While each of them was working on drawing their designs on the pumpkins Marie and I each helped them cut an opening in the top, and then remove the insides of each pumpkin. We then let each of the girls carve their own designs in the front of the pumpkin with an occasional helping hand from one of us. As you can see they did pretty well with carving pumpkins on their own.

Lauris made dinner, and the girls ate pretty well. Afterwards, we opened up Lauren's Easy Bake Oven, put the 100 watt light bulb into the oven, and the girls made their own sugar cookies topped with melted chocolate chips. The each ate two as their a dessert of their own making.
