Lego Kids Fest, Chinese School, and Swimming

The start of school means not only the end of summer, but the beginning of the busy season for parents.  For us it's no exception.  Lauren's got her hands full this fall as well.  She's already asked to be able to go to two sessions of gymnastics a week instead of the usual one a week she's been doing for the last few years.  She's also doing girl scouts again this year, and of course Chinese school on Friday nights.

Chinese school this year is going to be interesting, as she's going to be in a new class that's going to be less diverse, the kids are going to be closer in age, and closer in skills, along with a new teacher, so we're hopeful she'll pick up more this year.  In addition, I'm serving as the class representative parent for her class, so I've got lots to do again this year.  I'm also on the staff of the school, since it's run by volunteers, I've been asked to volunteer to help with facilities.  I'm not sure how much work that will involve this year, so we'll see what happens.

We've been keeping busy on the weekends since school started too.  Lauren's been trying to get in all the last minute swimming that she can, and we spent Labor day with the cousins at our pool for the the Labor day party they were holding there.  Lauren also went to a birthday pool party for a friend of hers who she doesn't see much any more, but met when they were in pre-school together.

Last weekend I also picked up tickets to Lego Kids Fest for Lauren.  She had such a good time, that she didn't want to leave.  Too bad it doesn't come every year, but moves around from city to city.  She got some new lego sets while we were there as well.

Finally, we've been working on a backyard project all summer that's finally coming close to completion.  Lauris is putting a spa/hot tub in the backyard.  We poured the cement, got the electrical ready, and the hot tub finally arrived this past week, and we got it moved to the backyard and put on the pad.  Lauren helped fill it with water, and we got the water heated and ready to go.  Time for a soak!
