Update on My Dad

My mom decided today it was too much for her to take care of my dad by herself. We started the procedure to get some help for her. The first step is getting my dad started in hospice care. A hospice nurse will come by every few days to check on my dad and help do medically necessary things. In addition hospice care will provide a hospital bed and other things that my dad my need to make him comfortable at home.

In addition to the hospice care, we're hiring a elderly care helper to come in and help my dad out during the day. For starters, she'll be coming in 4 hours a day. We'll adjust that as my mom figures out if she needs more or less help.

There's a lot of other relatives coming to visit soon too. My cousin Ling will be visiting from NY this weekend. In addition, my dad's cousin, Ellen from Chicago will also be here this weekend. My dad's cousin Michael will arrive next Tuesday.

There's not much else they can do for my dad other than to make him comfortable and give him pain medicine. Most of the studies that Marie has been able to find cause too much additional problems for the liver.
