Lauren's over 2!

Well, Lauren's second birthday came and went, and I didn't get a chance to update the blog with information about her party. We had her party early on July 8th so that my mom and older sister and her family could come to the party, since they were all leaving on a 10-day cruise to Alaska on July 10th.

We had a small party in our backyard, and the kids had lots of fun, most of it playing in the pool, except for Lauren who was intimidated by the size of the big pool. Thanks everyone for all the presents, Lauren had a lot of fun opening them, getting to open one each day until her actual birthday.

On her actual birthday, Friday, the 13th, Lars baked cupcakes for her class at daycare and they had a small party for her at daycare, and that afternoon he took her to Santa Cruz to go to the beach, but it was a little too cold for them to stay for any length of time.

My mom had a good time on her cruise, and she's back at home now. During her time away, we spent a lot of it getting our house ready for sale. We've listed the home now, and had a few showings already. We'll need to do a lot more work to get it ready for an open house soon though.

I spent this last weekend fixing the staircase in the new home. The original staircase was hard to walk on as it was built with steps that were too narrow and too high from step to step. With Mike's (Marie's husband) and Lars' help we got the staircase redone, at least in a temporary fashion until the house is more complete and I won't have workers trudging up and down on the steps. When it's more complete, I'll put on real oak wood treads which should look much nicer.

Since July is the month of birthdays, Daniel also had his birthday as did Lars and my mom. And of course my dad would have been 71 this month.
