We were feeling really good for a while there. It seemed work was getting done on the new home at a really good pace. We had a signed contract on the current home. All of it too much to hope for.
And then of course the bad news. My agent called yesterday to tell us the prospective buyers on the current home were backing out of the deal during the contingency period (during this time they can back out for any reason pretty much). So we're back to trying to sell the current home, but we've decided to try and push forward and get ourselves moved into the new home as soon as possible, hopefully late August or early September.
The kitchen floor is in the new home, as is the new front door. The front entry tile is being laid and the bare bones of the staircase is in. I'm hoping to complete the stairs (with the exception of the railing) this weekend. Kitchen cabinets get delivered next Wednesday.
Lars took Lauren to the zoo yesterday, and she had a lot of fun. She loves looking at the animals and as a treat she got to ride the carousel at the zoo before leaving for the day.
There is some really good news too. My mom had a cat scan last week, and the results were much better than her previous scans. The pleural effusion in her left lung (the accumulated fluid) is practically non-existent, and the same with her ascites (fluid in her stomach area), also all gone. This just means her chemo is keeping the cancer at bay. Good news for all of us.
