A season of bad luck

I can't help but think there's a jinx on everyone around me, as there seems to be a run of bad luck around us. It's all these little things that have happened, and not necessarily all to anyone in our family. The rain that's started only adds to gloomy atmosphere.

Our new tenant called us this weekend to tell us the house two doors down from our old house burnt down in a fire over the weekend. At the same time, she mentioned a large branch broke off the tree in front of our house and onto her car.

My co-worker Lynn told me this week that her daycare she sends her two kids to also fell victim to a fire this weekend. The good news is that her daycare will remain open by moving to other facilities they have, but the bad news is that her two kids will have to be separated and go to different daycare centers.

Lars' co-worker who he had Thanksgiving dinner with, just found out she has a large tumor in her kidney and will be going in for an operation just before Christmas. There's no word on whether it's cancer or not yet.

My mom's had to go to the hospital twice in the past month already to have two paracentesis done for her ascites (accumulation of fluid in the abdomen). And she has to deal with strep throat which is extremely painful for an adult. Lauren and Amelia were both also diagnosed with strep and have been put on antibiotics as well.

I managed to swipe another car's bumper with the rear tire of my car today, and left a note on the car, so I'll be paying to repaint a bumper soon.

And on top of all this, we lost Diego today.
