Father's Day

Yesterday, Sunday the 15th of June was Father's Day here in the U.S. It's the earliest possible Father's Day, so it took me a little by surprise. My older sister and Annette drove down for a camping trip in the south bay, but we missed seeing them both coming and going. They arrived before I got home on Friday and they left on Sunday while we were up in San Francisco. Marie and Michael did a drive by visit as well, as they were on their way to a party in Monterey where Michael's sister lives.

My mom spent Sunday with her brother, Tao and his kids Eric and Jeff. She still tires very easily, and in her last paracentesis (last Tuesday), they removed 8 liters of fluid the most they've ever had to remove. She's also slowly losing weight, which isn't a good thing either. She's down to 140 lbs after fluid removal.

For Father's Day we took Lauren to SF to see a new musical for kids called "Pete and the Pirate" on Pier 39. I was pretty disappointed in the content. While the singing and music was fine, the story line left a bit to be desired. The main character, a little boy named Pete broke out of jail and was chased by cops until he got home. Not exactly a desirable action for your kids to think is acceptable.

After the musical we had lunch on Pier 39 then we took Muni to the SF Zoo, one of Lauren's favorite places in SF. She wanted to see the bears and the penguins two of her favorite exhibits at the Zoo. That combined with getting to ride the Muni, made the day for her. She was so tuckered out that she was asleep by 6pm that evening.

In the house front, we finally got the exterior of our home painted and finished much of the little touch up things on the exterior we needed to do. There's still a few more things I want to do, but it looks on the whole much better now than it has all year. I'm also trying to finish some of the interior projects that affect the look of the inside before all the family arrives. That includes the fireplace and stair railings which have remained unfinished wood all year.
