Mariah's Early Birthday Party

On Sunday, Lauren and I left early for the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, where Mariah's birthday party was being held. We got there just after Marie and the girls got there, so Lauren got to spend some time alone playing with Michaela and Mariah before the rest of the guests got there. It was quite a full house once the rest of Mariah's guests showed up. She had a lot of friends from her school arrive as well as her cousins Charlotte and PJ.

The kids got to play with different plants and creatures from the aquariums. The kids also got to go out and try to capture different wildlife from the slough running nearby, but mostly they only caught mud snails. Lauren got to hold a small hermit crab in her hands and see a live anemone. She also got to feed a leopard shark that was in a tank with some bits of frozen fish.

Later she got to do some arts and crafts while having pizza, pineapple and strawberries for lunch. She was especially appreciative of Mariah's birthday cake made of red velvet cake topped with Tinkerbell and lots and lots of frosting. After the party was over and before we left, she got to race with Mariah and Michaela and some of their friends up and down the trail outside the Interpretive Center. All in all she was pretty happy with her day at the bay.
