Lauren's 6th Birthday

As has been the case for a few years now, we spent Lauren's birthday in Tucson, so it was small event, shared by just Lars' daughter and grandkids. For the event we went to the local supermarket (Fry's) and she picked out her own birthday cake. Rather than princesses or Dora this year, she selected a Tweety-bird cake, mostly because of the bright colorful flowers.

For her candles, I had found a number 6 candle that included a single candle that was musical and sang the Happy Birthday song. Unfortunately I couldn't get the candle to work until after Lauren had blown out all the candles, so she's insisting I save it for next year as well.

But don't worry just because there wasn't a large gathering of people, doesn't mean she didn't get lots of presents. Uncle Tao and Aunt Cathy had sent over a magnet kit filled with words (great idea as Lauren is learning to read), along with a little doll. In addition Amie gave her some art projects, and of course we had lots of presents for her as well, including a My Little Pony ferris wheel and few Lego sets.
