Lauren spent Halloween as Snow White. She's wanted to be Snow White since we took her to Disneyland in June and she saw a picture of Snow White with 2 little girls dressed in Snow White outfits on the cover of the Disneyland Map. I was lucky and found a Snow White costume at Target early on in the Halloween shopping season. I've kept it hidden until Halloween, so she wouldn't ask to wear it before the actual day.
Halloween was on Friday, so Lauren went to day care as usual, and I showed up at 3pm to help change her into her Snow White costume. Here parade at daycare started at 3:30pm and Lauren shared the stage with 6 Cinderellas, 3 Sleeping Beauties, 1 Ariel and 1 Tinkerbell princess. At least she was unique in being the only child dressed as Snow White (although there was one adult in a Snow White costume).
After day care, we took Lauren to Valley Fair mall, where they were offering trick-or-treating at the stores from 5pm to 6pm. We got there shortly after 5 and were surprised to see many stores already posting "out of candy" signs in their windows. Still Lauren was able to visit quite a few stores and partially fill her plastic pumpkin pail. Overall we were quite surprised at how well attended the trick-or-treat event was. The mall was mobbed with little kids and their parents, with barely room to move. We gave up trying to wait in line at the concierge, and stuck with the stores. Afterwards we had dinner in the very crowded food court before heading home.
At home we let Lauren visit two of our neighbors to go trick-or-treating. This year was very different than all the previous years she's gone, in that this was the first year she wasn't too afraid to say "Trick-or-treat" and "Thank you" to complete strangers. Scary!
