Today is Lauren's 4th Birthday. Just 4 years ago, we were in Bakersfield watching her being born. It seems like such a long time ago, but it also seems like all that time has passed in an instant.
For her fourth birthday we had a fairly low key party for her at home. We invited Lars' daughter's family to our home to help celebrate. Amie, Jeff and the kids, Dane, Henley and Spencer arrived for a barbeque dinner on Lars' new grill. He prepared a hamburgers, hot dogs and home-made potato salad.
After dinner, Lauren got to blow out candles on her Disney Princess cake, which was decorated with figurines of Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Belle. After our dessert of birthday cake Lauren got to open her presents, which included presents from family members not present. Many thanks to Marie, Michael, Michaela and Mariah for sending a present package which included a new dress, shoes, and a Strawberry Shortcake DVD. Also many thanks to Grand Uncle Tao and Grand Aunt Cathy who sent a framed bunny picture to hang in Lauren's new bedroom in Arizona.
Amie's family gave Lauren a bubble maker which she played with for quite a while. She also got a soft Mulan doll to fit in her new doll car seat carrier, a Disney tea set for Arizona, and some books. Her final present was a Mega blocks kit (like Lego) set of Kai-lan's Dragon Boat adventure.
She exclaimed "just what I wanted" after opening each and every present, so as you can imagine she was quite a happy little camper by the end of the evening. She took her Mulan doll and doll carrier with her to the airport today to drop me off. I've got a late flight back into San Jose, and will spend the rest of the week here before heading off again to Arizona for the final week of the summer.
