This past Sunday was of course Halloween, and Lauren's school's Halloween carnival was this past Friday evening. Marie came with girls to enjoy Lauren's carnival. Lauren loved having them there, with her school friends as well. The girls had a great time, other than the short trip to the haunted house which scared them.
For Halloween, Lauren dressed in her rainbow fairy costume for church Sunday morning where she participated in the annual "trunk-or-treat" celebration. In "trunk-or-treat", volunteers line up their cars in a row, and decorate their "trunks" with Halloween themes. Kids can then go "trick-or-treat" from car to car, collecting candy safely. This was Lauren's second year doing the "trunk-or-treat" event and she had just as much fun this year as she did last year.
For Halloween evening, I let Lauren visit a few homes in the neighborhood, mostly to let her enjoy a real Halloween "trick-or-treat" and to be able to visit with some of our neighbors that we haven't talked to in a while. Lauren chose to go out in a black gown with a red heart on it (a costume I found last year after Halloween in a clearance bin at Target), with a red tiara, which we declared was the costume of the "Queen of Hearts". She collected plenty of candy and was happy to go home and give out candy to visiting children for the rest of the evening. All-in-all a very successful Halloween.
