It's been a long time since we spent any time up in Tahoe, especially in the summer time. This past weekend over the Labor day holiday we had a last minute decision to go up to Lake Tahoe and visit my older sister and her family, since they own a cabin in the Truckee area.We drove up on Saturday, and spent the afternoon hiking in the area, up to a vista point that had a nice view over Donner Lake. The picture on the right is of Lauren and her cousin Daniel, along with our dog Cookie who came along with us.
Annette's sister Sheila and her family were also staying with my sister's family in the cabin, so there were plenty of kids for Lauren to play with.
On Sunday, we drove to Tahoe City, had lunch at Jake's on the Lake, and then went to Truckee River where the kids got to play on the river, and float down a short section on inner tubes. The highlight of the fun, was watching my sister slip and fall in the river, getting completely soaked, which completely thrilled the kids.
We drove back on Sunday, which I'm glad I did as I read that traffic was horrendous on Monday, Labor Day. On Sunday we worked around the house on various projects. One of the things I worked on was removing some mechanical pool timers from the house. There's actually three of them that were in the house controlling various outdoor lights. Since most of the outdoor lights are on light sensors to activate them as soon as it's dark, it didn't make sense to also have a timer, plus the mechanical timers are large, and noisy, and probably use a bit of electricity. So they've all been removed now.
