Little Lauren turned two weeks old yesterday. She's continuing to grow, and she's doing well. She's keeping us up at night with various intervals for her feedings that range from 45 minutes up to 4 hours. It really depends if she's in a "fussy" mood. But overall she's an incredibly good baby, very easy to comfort and to take care of. Just in the last two days, her skin has broken out into a "baby acne", which we hope will go away soon. The baby books and the baby care seminar we attended said this is normal for babies, so we're not panicking yet.
She's eating about 3 ounces each feeding at this point, and it seems to be increasing. So overall, she's doing great! She's a joy to hold and just to watch as she sleeps. When she's awake she's got big round eyes that just stare at you.
As for my parents, my dad started his new chemo regimen this past Tuesday. We'll see how that goes and if CEA number goes down in a few weeks.
As for my mom, the latest x-ray shows that the fluid has come back into her lungs. Although all the blood and other tests came back negative for cancer, heart disease, viruses, and infections, this is a good indication there may be some early stage cancer somewhere in her body. So tomorrow, they will be doing a PEP scan to try and locate any until now missed tumors. On Monday of next week, they're going to try and remove the fluid from the lung again.
If the PEP scan continues to show negative signs of cancer, they will do a biopsy of the surrounding area of the lung and test again for cancer. So at this point, there's not much to do other than to wait and see what the results are of each of the tests.
Little Michaela continues to be enchanted with little Lauren, calling her "ba-by", whenever she comes to visit.
Lars continues to hobble around on his broken foot, a little too much though, and the doctor has scolded him for not using his crutches more. I know it's hard on him not being able to move at will, but we definitely want him to get better and not worse!
My older sister, Annette and the kids went up to Vancouver for a two week summer vacation, so they're out and about having fun.
I went back to work today after a two week break to hang out with the baby. It was fun going in and distributing birth announcement and See's candies annoucing a baby girl.
