The procedure to put the chest tube in didn't occur until late yesterday around 6:30pm, about 3 hours later than originally scheduled. The procedure went well with no complications. The drained about 1300 cc of liquid from my mom's lung, and she was in recovery for a couple of hours. We finally got to see her around 8:30pm last night. Sufen spent the night with her at the hospital.
She spent most of the night in a fair amount of pain, and was given morphine injections every two hours. This morning after seeing her doctor, she was prescribed a handheld morphine injector so she can give herself pain medication.
She remains drowsy today, and still in a fair amount of discomfort. She was able to get up once today, and we expect now she'll be in the hospital for a few more days. My earlier estimate of Thursday and Friday was a bit optimistic and unrealistic at this point. Most like she'll remain in the hospital until Saturday or Sunday.
