Lauren's been asking to sleep "camp-out" style on the floor the last few nights, so we decided over the weekend it was time to break out her "toddler" bed.
It's a bed-frame that looks just like a regular adult bed, but sized to fit her existing mattress from her crib. It's also much lower to the ground, so she can get in and out of her bed herself.
Last night was her first night in her "big girl bed". She was so excited to get her new bed. As soon as she saw it she immediately made a connection to a book she has called "Emily gets her big girl bed" which is a story about a little girl transitioning from a crib to a bed.
She asked to sleep in her new bed, a first as we usually have to tell her it's bedtime. But that phenomenon didn't last long. She was out of bed and roaming within minutes and we finally had to resort to the usual methods of getting her to sleep (rocking, singing, etc). After she was fast asleep we put her in her new bed.
Lars wakes up first in the morning and went to check on her this morning, and found her spread out in the middle of the room sleeping on the floor. We expect she'll do this for a few nights more, before she gets used to sleeping in her new bed.
By the time I woke up to check on her, she was sound asleep in her bed looking very peaceful. Unfortunately she didn't wake up on her own this morning, as we also had daylight savings time change over the weekend, so even though it was 8AM, Lauren's body was still telling her it was only 7AM. Hopefully she'll adjust to the time change quickly!
