We spend Saturday in Monterey taking Lauren to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It's been over a week since her incident, and she seems completely normal, so all is good.
Lauren loves the aquarium even though we never seem to get down to Monterey enough. This time around, we joined as members of the Aquarium, which means we can go at any time for the next year, and now we have added incentive to go.
Lauren's favorite part of the aquarium is the penguins. We were lucky enough to get there this time as they were feeding some of the penguins, so she got to watch their meal.
My mom continues to soldier on. She seems to be in discomfort most of the time and she's rather tired lately, so much so, that she's caved in to our requests to have her use a wheelchair to get around. I have an older wheelchair I got for free, but I'm looking into getting a lightweight wheelchair to make getting around easier.
My mom's in the hospital today getting a blood transfusion, two units. If all goes well and she's feeling better, she'll have chemo tomorrow, and then a paracentesis on Thursday to remove the accumulated fluid from her ascites.
My aunt Jen continues to be a lifesaver, by helping around the house, keeping my mom's spirits up, driving her around, making sure my mom eats. We certainly can't thank her enough!
