The Crazy Real Estate Market

As most of you know, we've been having a really tough time selling our previous home, the one we lived in with my dad and my mom. The market is still tough in the high end, so we gave up and finally re-rented that house out. The new renter moves in on September 15. What surprised us is just how active the real estate market is on the low end. We decided it made sense to downsize again now that my mom is no longer with us. But it's been an incredibly difficult task, with inventory under $600k the lowest its ever been. And anything that we do find interesting, inevitably has multiple offers and sells at much more than we want to spend. This seems crazy given how slow the market was just a year ago. At this point, we're beginning to re-think our plans about downsizing and just hunkering down until things get more reasonable again.
