Busy and Hot Weekend

This past weekend was a scorcher down in Silicon Valley, with temps in the high 90's. With this in mind we chose to spend Saturday up in San Francisco (where it was only 80 degrees Fahrenheit) and went to Crissy field to a dads' barbeque. Crissy Field is up near Golden Gate Bridge and right on the water with a beach front. Lauren loved being at the beach, the first time she's really enjoyed the water and sand. By the time we were ready to go, she was soaking wet and covered in sand. We left Crissy Field and went down to Fisherman's Wharf where we bought Lauren some dry clothes from a street vendor, and then proceeded to the Rainforest Cafe for dinner.

It was Lauren's first experience in a Rainforest Cafe and she spent the meal looking around wide-eyed at the animals, foliage, and pretend rain and thunder, not to mention the sky which kept changing from day to night. The tree frog, Cha-cha also came by and took his picture with Lauren. The meal itself was only so-so, but the atmosphere definitely made up for it in Lauren's eyes. She was sound asleep on the drive home from SF.

On Sunday, which was just as warm as Saturday, Marie, Michael and the girls came over to play with Lauren and go to the Silicon Valley Moon Festival, which was held this year in Overfelt Gardens in San Jose. It was hot when we got there, but the girls were captivated by the dancing and shaolin performances. We then moved on to the arts and crafts section where the girls got to make hats, lanterns, leaf pictures, and bracelets.

After the festival we drove down to Cupertino for dinner at A&J's restaurant, and then walked over to Sheng Kee bakery to buy some mooncakes for the occasion. A very busy weekend, but one that was lots of fun for everyone.
