It's the back to school time of year, and it's no different for our household. Lauris has already started work again, with the work schedule starting this past Monday. If we had enrolled Lauren in public school she too would have started kindergarten this past Monday. But our attempts to get her registered in the public school system only led to frustration, as the public school was pretty much overworked and unable to return any of our calls, and for some reason seemed to be closed every time we went to visit the school. In the end the unresponsiveness of the school combined with the new 30 to 1 student to teacher ratio, led us to enrolling Lauren in private elementary school.
She started going to the private school, this past Monday, even though classes don't start there until August 30th. Part of the reason for this was that her Jr. K. class at the previous facility ended on August 13th and partly to let her get acclimated to her new school early, which was important to us since she's had difficult transitions between schools in the past.
But, if this past Monday was any indication, there was no cause for alarm this time around. At least half a dozen of her class from Jr. K. also moved to the same school she will be attending this fall, and as soon as we arrived on Monday she found some of her friends and settled in comfortably to her new school.
