Last weekend Lauren got to spend time with her cousins Michaela and Mariah at the newly reopened Happy Hollow Zoo and Park. Marie was able to get us discounted admission with their family membership to Oakland Zoo. The girls had a great time, first looking at the animals and then by running from ride to ride. They even went on the roller coaster 4 times, many of those without adult supervision (they wanted to go by themselves).
Today marks the last day of summer camp at Lauren's daycare/school. They're marking it with a pajama party all day, so Lauren got wear her PJ's to school this morning. Tonight, there's a "meet and greet" at the school so she can meet her new kindergarten teacher and see her new classroom, where she'll start kindergarten on Monday morning.
Lauren's a little excited and a little anxious about going to kindergarten. But I think for the most part she's just mostly relieved that she's going to a kindergarten where she'll have some friends. It turns out the kindergarten class she'll be in will have at least 3 other children who she already knows from Junior-K.
She's very different today than when we first dropped her off at Action Day over 4 years ago. Back then she cried every day for two weeks when we dropped her off. Today, she's happy to go off with her friends without even looking back to say good bye. She's definitely growing up.
