Michaela's Birthday Party

I'm late in getting to this post, but on Sunday, the 15th of May, we attended Michaela's 7th birthday party. (Lauren's a little miffed at this one, she doesn't like the fact that Michaela is now 2 years older than her - for at least a couple of months). Marie and Michael decided to hold it at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretative Center, a location they've used in the past for parties. It's a great location because it's right on the bay, and there's a lot of great activities for little kids.

We left early on Sunday and picked up my Aunt Lih-Ping, so she wouldn't have to crowd into a car with Ling and his family. It was kind of an ominous day, threatening to rain almost the entire morning (after an overnight filled with rain storms).

The day's activities included feeding the small tiger sharks with squid, searching for wildlife in the marsh, and getting to handle a gopher snake. With recent rain the search for wildlife turned out to be a rather muddy event. Even though I was able to prevent Lauren from getting too muddy, I did manage to slip and fall, and get my feet and pant legs completely soaked.

Lauren finally was able to find wildlife outside (she didn't find anything the last time around). With my help we picked up a horned snail and added it to the treasure of live wildlife that was collected.

Overall, we had a great time with Michaela, Mariah, Charlotte, PJ and all the relatives and friends. The Interpretative Center was a great location for a party, and a place Lauren always enjoys.
