In Chinese culture it's traditional to celebrate a month of life, generally indicating the baby has made it through the most difficult part, and will likely survive. So my parents hosted the 1 month dinner party for our family.
My aunts, uncles, cousins, sister, brother-in-law, niece were all there. Thanks so much to Aunt Lih Ping and Uncle Jun for the beautiful necklace they got Lauren. My Aunt Cathy and Uncle Tao were also there with their kids, Jeff and Eric (who's about to start senior year in high school!). My aunt Nancy was also there, as was Marie, Michael and Michaela. Michaela was a bit shy and decided she didn't want to enter the private party room at Canton Delights where my parents held the party. But Lauren enjoyed the party, as she slept right through most of it!
My mom had her bone scan on Monday, and sure enough it showed a discrepancy on her 12th vertebrae, the indication of cancer. My dad had a blood draw today (Tuesday), and has chemo tomorrow. This round seems to be taking its toll as well, as most of his hair is beginning to fall out. This is a first for him, as all the other rounds didn't really affect his hairline.
Lars and I have already begun work on the new house. There's lots to do, so we're hiring some outside help as well. The new appliances arrived today, and a new garage door goes in tomorrow. Meanwhile we're going to lay a new floor in the upstairs recreation room, do some painting, and other little projects around the house.
