It may seem like I've been posting a lot of bad news lately about my mom's cancer. They say there's a silver lining in every cloud and we may have found it. As you know from my previous posts my mom had an MRI and a bone scan to further evaluate the metasticized breast cancer in her spine and rib bones.
The results indicate that the cancer is within the bone only and has not spread outside the bone. This is good news, as it means she will only need oral medication to combat the cancer. This means for now, no chemo, no radiation and no antibody treatments. These treatments are kept on hand only if they need more silver bullets. So for now, my mom gets oral medication, and we keep track of the status of her cancer.
On stranger news, you know my dad has had chemo for three years now and has successfully avoided the hair loss that most patients on chemo get. That is until now. My dad's hair has been coming out in clumps after this latest round. But the good news is that the treatment seems to be working as his CEA numbers have gone down slightly.
Little Lauren continues to fascinate and amaze us. She's staying awake longer and started smiling back at us last weekend. She's stayed at her Grandma's a few times this week to let us work on the new house uninterrupted.
As for the new house, we've already ordered new appliances and had a new garage door installed. We've also hired a contractor to help get the work we want done completed before we move in.
I'm also going to try and take a month off work to try and finish up everything that needs to be done along with help care for Lauren, and coordinate the two moves that need to be completed soon. Lots of stuff in the works as you can tell!
