It's a busy weekend for Lars and myself. This afternoon we went to a wedding of a co-worker's that started at noon. The wedding itself was over by 1pm, but the reception didn't start until 4:30pm. So we went home, got some chores done, and then went to see my older sister, her partner, the kids, Marie and Michaela, who were all over at my parents before rushing off to the reception.
The wedding itself was held at St. Joseph's in downtown San Jose. It's a beautiful church on the inside, much nicer than I expected from the outside of the church. It was a Catholic cermony, but infused with some Filipino-American traditions, since the groom is Filipino-American. It was a nice blend of cultures, and beautiful ceremony.
The reception was held at the Adobe Lodge at Santa Clara University. It's been 9 years since I've been on the SCU campus, so it was a nice trip down memory lane to be able to walk around the campus. The reception was a nice blend of an outdoor dinner along with indoor dancing and cake cutting. Congratulations to Janine and Larry on their wedding today!
My older sister and her family came down to see my parents, especially my dad, who hasn't been taking the latest rounds of chemo very well. He spent the entire time we were there visiting trying to get some rest in bed. It's also my older sister's birthday this Wednesday, and since they're off to Southern California next week, it was the only chance to see my sister for her birthday. Happy Birthday in advance to my sister!
Tomorrow Lars and I take off bright and early on a 6:40 am flight to Boise to attend a 50th anniversary party of Lars' aunt and uncle. Lars told me it'll have been 10-15 years since he's seen some of the attendees of the party.
So it's been a weekend of weddings, anniversaries and family. All the important things in life. As it should be.
