Lunch minus one

Unfortunately my father did not make his father's day lunch this afternoon. As he was getting dressed to leave for the occasion, he started getting a nosebleed, which has been troubling him more often than not lately. Rather than risk having the nosebleed in the restaurant, my father stayed home, while my mother took my two aunts and met the rest of us at the restaurant.

The rest of the party included Marie, Michael, Michaela, Su fen, Annette, Amelia, Daniel, Lars, my Aunt Lih-Ping, and myself. We met up at the Taipei Stone House restaurant in the Cupertino Village. The food was an interesting assortment that my dad had pre-ordered the day before. It's a shame he wasn't there to enjoy it. It was food cooked in Northern Chinese fashion, unlike the traditional Cantonese style most Chinese restaurants serve.

My Aunt A-gimm unfortunately had a tough time eating, as she only had the use of a single hand, as her right hand was fully bandaged from an accident she had last night. She accidently got her hand caught in a car door, and had to be rushed to the emergency room. They gave her a prescription for some pain medicine, but she said the pain is not stong enough for to need the prescription medicine, and she'd prefer to go without, so she's being a real trooper about the whole thing. But if you've read my previous postings, you know she's had a few life experiences of her own. I'm sure we all wish her a speedy recovery!

After lunch, we went to visit my dad at home, and he was doing okay. After Michaela showed up, he got up and joined us in the living room to watch Michaela being fed. Michaela was quite content to eat and to sleep.
